FOOD IS CENTRAL

TO THE CONSIDERATION

OF SOVEREIGNTY

Across the U.S. Territories women are leading ground-up action to reclaim their land and sustainably feed their people.

We’re bringing these women, the diasporas, and allies together in a history-making event!

#BeyondColonies

We sit at the end of the United States’ food chain. If the boat does not come, we don’t have food. How do we separate ourselves from our colonizer if we’re waiting for them to feed us?
— Sommer Sibilly-Brown, Founder & Executive Director, Virgin Islands Good Food Coalition

WHO WE ARE

These events & resources emerged out of an interest among colleagues from the U.S. Caribbean and Pacific territories in growing our collaboration and in response to interest from the “State of the U.S. Colonies” Panel from 2022.

These conversations highlight the challenges and possible solutions that arise from being a territory and/or colony of the United States.
